The history of Mementi Urns
Who we are
When selecting a cremation urn, you may find many designs which are almost right. But often there is something missing, or there is one detail you would like to change. It might be the urn’s colours, decoration or shape, or simply the lack of personalisation that’s not quite right. That’s what Daniel Mack and Marco Billmaier noticed in 2012, and that’s when they decided: “We would like to change that.”
Mementi is a service with a huge variety of options for a personalised cremation urn for ashes, and we only provide cremation urns that have special characteristics and are unique in some way.
Marco is an artist and is responsible for the creative side of the company including product development, manufacturing, refining, and shipping the urns. You can see some of his work at “Die Wandgestaltung”.
Daniel is an MBA, with a talent for marketing and digital aspects. They’ve known each other since the fifth grade and both are familiar with the process of personal loss of loved ones. They understand your needs at these times. In difficult times, you will be grateful for everything that is uncomplicated and easy. That’s why Mementi attaches importance to service and individual requests.

Cremation Urns Frequently Asked Questions
Do you put ashes directly in urn?
The answer can depend on the type of urn that you’re purchasing, but generally, urns are designed for direct contact with human ashes or can hold a so-called ash capsule. In our shop you can find in the “info” section of each product if you can fill it directly or of you optional can sue a Ash capsule. If you are not sure, please call us, and we can explain the process in deteail.
How do you transfer ashes to an urn?
Usually the crematorium in providing the ashes in a (plastic-) bag. The simple option is to place this bag inside the urn, providing a decorative urn. Alternatively you can transfer the remains into the body of the urn. Once safely inside, simply put the top back on and firmly twist and lock the urn for safekeeping.
What size cremation urn do I need?
The standard ash capsule from the crematorium has the size 16,5 cm x 21 cm. At Mementi, our urns (except those designed for children and animals) have a diameter of 16,5 cm and a height of 21 cm as standard. So there should be enough space in the urn for a capsule of this size. Furthermore, an urn shouldn’t be bigger than 25 cm x 25 cm so that it fits into the urn wall, depending on the burial method.
Do urns need to be sealed?
The best way is to use a bag or an ash capsule to seal the ash inside the decoration urn. For our glass urns we recommend an extra sealant, if you choose to place the ashes directly into the body.
